Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link is a cancelled game that was set in the Kingdom Hearts series. It was originally planned for release on mobile devices but the game was cancelled in 2025 due to the development team determining that it would be difficult to offer a service that would satisfy players over a long period of time.[1]

The game would have taken place between Kingdom Hearts Union χ and Kingdom Hearts Dark Road and explored the mysteries of a "blank era" in Scala ad Caelum.

Development

Development for Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link began in January 2019. It originally spawned from an R&D project for Kingdom Hearts III, and the initial pitch used a modified build of Kingdom Hearts III. The actual game was built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5.[2]

Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link was officially announced at Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary event on April 10, 2022.[3] A closed beta test for iOS devices occurred on January 13-18, 2023. The prototype test was exclusive to Japan. Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link would have elements connecting to Kingdom Hearts IV, explaining that there were "some figures that appear" in Missing-Link that were tied to the story of IV.[4]

A second closed beta testing period for Japan, the United Kingdom, and Australia was announced on October 30, 2023.[5] The test ran for iOS devices on November 29, 2023 and was planned for Android devices in January 2024, but the Android testing was later delayed until Spring 2024.[6] The closed beta testing session for Android devices was eventually announced on March 29, 2024. It was planned to occur from April 25, 2024 to May 2, 2024.[7] However, the beta testing sessions for Android devices would be further delayed, having been moved up one week from May 5, 2024 to May 10, 2024. In addition, another iOS beta testing period occurred around the same time as the upcoming Android beta testing sessions.[8]

On November 18, 2024, it has been announced that the game's planned release for 2024 has been delayed.[9]

On May 14th, 2025, the development team decided to cancel further development for the game.[1]
